Story

Ladies and Gentlemen,

My good friend Thom Christopher Hunt was diagnosed with Colon cancer last year, after surgery and six months of intensive chemotherapy he has shown the cancer who is boss and has made a full recovery. Throughout the hard weeks and months Macmillan cancer support was there to help Thom and his family and friends. Myself Thom and Tim as the Three Hungry Boys wanted to show our appreciate for Macmillan by raising money to help them carry on their good work.

Unfortunately the decision on how we are going to do this was left up to those two and they have decided to organise a charity cricket event.

I don't understand cricket, I never have and most probably never will.

I don't understand how you can play a game for five days and still not have a winner.

I don't understand why you have to wear a lunch box in your pants.

I don't understand why they all wear white when they are clearly going to get grass stains from all the diving around? Surely green would be a better colour to wear?

None the less the decision has been made and I will be part of the Three Hungry Boys/ River Cottage team. Tim and Thom have assured me that I am batting at 14th which means nothing to me so doesn't reassure me in the slightest.

Everyone that is playing (and I use that in the loosest possible sense for myself) has been asked to raise at least £100. So dear friends I would like to ask you to give what you can. Do it with the knowledge that I will be standing on a cricket pitch/field sometime this summer without the faintest idea of what to do whilst a grown man throws a ball at me.

If you are able to make it to Fleet cricket club for the 3rd of July you can keep me company while I wait for my turn. I'll most probably be propping up the pimms table gorging myself on cucumber sandwiches.

For more details visit either www.3hungryboys.com or our facebook http://www.facebook.com/pages/3-Hungry-Boys/214960586269.

Please don't let this torrid experience be in vain. Donate now.
