Great Wall Discovery · 3 April 2010

At Michael Sobell House, supported by Harlington Hospice, we support people in our community living with serious or terminal illness, and their family and friends. We believe everyone who comes to us should be supported to live each of their days in their own way, to the fullest.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

As many of you know, Lorraine and Gary's dad, Rob, died in June last year, which was obviously a huge loss to the whole family.  However, the family was very grateful for the tremendous care Rob received in the last few weeks of his life. He had been transferred to Michael Sobell House and the care and support they offered both Rob and the family maded those last weeks so much easier. Rob was in lovely surroundings, able to look over countryside and watch the birds feeding outside his window.

The unit requires substantial funding to maintain its level of care and we, Lorraine, Trevor and Gary, felt we would like to do something more to support Michael Sobell House as a token of our gratitude for the care offered at such a difficult time. Hence, we have decided to undertake the Great Wall Challenge, a charity trek along various sections of the Great Wall of China. The trek is organised by Charity Challenge, the company behind last year's Red Nose Day celebrity ascent of Kilimanjaro, and treks along some remote sections of the wall which include some very steep climbs over ruined sections which are indeed a challenge.

We hope you are able to support us and thanks again for visiting our page.
