My story

I will be joining my friend Jamie Lewis in a cycle ride to raise money for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, in memory of Jamie’s brother Alex Lewis.

Alex lost his battle with Osteosarcoma on the 17th February 2011, just 5 days after his 22nd birthday, and marriage to his loving wife Ali. Alex wanted to raise awareness, and as much money as possible  for the Bone Cancer Research Trust, to try and help others in their fight against this disease.

To help try and achieve this goal, we are going to be cycling from Treyarnon, near Padstow, in Cornwall, to ride a route of around 300 miles to Rhossili in the Gower, Wales. These are 2 of Alex's favourite places, and also where he asked for his ashes to be buried.

We are hoping to complete this trip in about 5 days.

Around 450 people are diagnosed with bone cancer each year in the UK and Republic of Ireland, mainly affecting children and young people between the ages of 10 and 24. The most common types of bone cancer are osteosarcoma and Ewing's sarcoma.

BCRT sets out to improve the outcome for people with primary bone cancer through research, awareness, information and support.

As bone cancer is rare, research into primary bone cancer currently gets very little funding from other sources.  Since being formally registered as a charity in 2006, BCRT has funded 24 research projects to the value of £800,000.

We appreciate any donations you are able to give.
