Story
So this year I have agreed to take on two physical challenges for the Vodafone Foundation. I have decided that just the one challenge and organising two weddings is not enough excitement for me this year!
The first event is an Ultra Marathon on the 10th June. Now yes, I might be a runner but 10km is my usual limit so adding another 74 sounds almost impossible to me!
The second challenge, (23-24 September), is to climb the three highest peaks in England, Scotland and Wales in 24 hours. These are:
Snowdon, in Wales- 1085m
Scafell Pike, in England- 978m
Ben Nevis, in Scotland- 1345m
Now the reason for raising the money. This year the Vodafone Foundation has a target to raise £1 million to support refugees through their ‘Choose Love’ campaign.
With one in every 113 people in the world currently forcibly displaced from their home due to conflict or natural disaster, we are experiencing the largest refugee crisis since the Second World War. Through ‘Choose Love’, the Vodafone Foundation want to continue to show their support for families and individuals in need. All funds will go to UNHCR & Europe’s largest grassroots distributor of aid, Help Refugees.
‘Choose Love’ builds on four years of Vodafone support for refugees with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) across Africa and Europe, and 13 years with French charity Telecoms Sans Frontieres.
