Story
It has been almost three years since my first trip to Peru. I trekked the Inca Trail in 2007, the Lares Valley in 2009 and now I am facing my biggest challenge yet.
Through sponsorship for my treks and through volunteering on a regular basis I have been actively supporting Project Peru ever since first going to Peru. Project Peru runs a children's refuge in the desert shanty towns of Lima, caring for nearly 40 children. Project Peru is a small, lively, totally voluntary UK-based charity offering food, clothes, education, shelter and fun to those in need in a country where nearly half the population exists on less than one dollar a day. They also support social initiatives in the local community and in the high Andes. I have been supporting this amazing charity since my first trip. This year I spent a week in their children’s refuge. This is a beautiful place run by inspiring women who look after 40 beautiful children all of whom come from extreme poverty. I really enjoyed my visit to the refuge but was saddened by the fact that these lovely children will never have the opportunity to visit the historical sites that they study in school. This is where I need your help. I need to raise £4000.00 to take all the children and staff to Machu Picchu early in 2010. Any donation you can make will help pay for the flights, transport in Cusco, train fare to Machu Picchu, accommodation, meals and entrance tickets-the journey of a life-time for everyone! Thank you; gracias! from everyone in Project Peru in Peru and from me! Warmest regards, Tristam Tredgett
