Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
So I have decided to take on a huge challenge this summer and do a midnights trek up Ben Nevis...
Many people have pointed out how out of character this is for me, but I've not lost it completely I’m doing this for a charity I really believe in (Alzheimer's Society). My Grandma suffers from Alzheimer's, and so I have seen the everyday struggle and strain this illness can put on a sufferer and their family, and how devastating it is when a loved one can no longer tell their children or grandchildren apart, but I've also seen how having support from people who care can relive the strain and bring people together.
Lucky i'm not alone, as I have convinced my best friend Becky (who feels as strongly as I do about this charity) to climb with me. We aim to raise awareness and hopefully some money for this amazing charity.
What is Alzheimer's?
Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, affecting 62 per cent of those diagnosed.
Dementia describes different brain disorders that trigger a loss of brain function that may include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. Dementia is progressive, which means the symptoms will gradually get worse.
Who is affected?
There are 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. This will soar to 2 million by 2051.
These are just a few facts and reasons why this charity is important to us and our families but to find out more visithttp://www.alzheimers.org.uk/
