Story
Soooo, last year I ran. And ran. And ran. I finished the Manchester 10k and Brighton Half Marathon (with respectable beginners times!). What should I do this year I hear you ask? Run further? Run faster? Run in a silly outfit? No. In some parallell universe where I'm an olympic athlete at the peak of physical fitness and a body like a gladiator, I've decided to participate in Tough Mudder. Tough Mudder is a 10-12 mile SAS style assault course with obstacles which will include fire, ice baths, and electrocution.
WHY?! Why would I sign myself up for this insanity? To raise money.
In July 2011 my life changed forever when my husband broke his neck in an accident. The accident has left him a level c4/5 tetraplegic and nearly cost him his life. Everyday since then I wake up grateful for the use of my body.
I run because I can.
SUAG are a small organisation mainly run by volunteers who give amazing help to patients and their families at the specialist Spinal Injury Unit at Southport Hospital. They run a care home, provide specailist equipment and run monthly social events. SUAG were part of a network of people that helped us through the most traumatic period of our lives. Raising this money is my small way of giving something back.
So please dig deep..... I'm off to do some press ups before bed ;)
