THE CAUSE

Cholistan (desert) is toughest, drought and hottest region across Pakistan due to its landscape and geographical existence. Similarly, community living in Cholistan also face same challenges particularly of drought and water availability. This community travel with the flow of water therefore children were completely neglected and deprived from their basic right of education.

Recently the CDA (Cholistan Development Authority) and PEF (Punjab Education Foundation) took this initiative to facilitate this community and their children and hired teachers on Govt. Pay scale so they can ensure their education but the major issue is with their learning spaces, students are forced to study either under the tree or open place, due to non-availability of any structure in place.

We have selected two locations in Cholistan desert to build 2 schools to provide better learning space along with basic furniture, learning and activities material, stationery, uniform and each school will be received light and fan through solar panels. There is no grid electricity available in the desert so we are hopeful with our small contribution not only the retention and enrolment will increase but their future can be secure as compare to their forefathers. In addition, these 2 schools may turn to be a successful model through its approach, innovation and thoughtful investment for marginalised and unprivileged communities.
