Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Lauren Wantuch, i am 23years old and suffer from hypermania a form of bi-polar.

I am taking the Pink Collar Boxing challenge to help me and others who suffer from mental illness by raising awareness for such a great cause. I will be training for 8 weeks at the Community Aero Kick to take part in a 3-round boxing event at Aston Villa football ground on the 8th November 2014!

For a long time i suffered in silence with hyper-mania, think that i was totally alone and crazy. I used alcohol as an excuse not to actually live my life, because while i was drunk i felt sane and it felt like a get away, but in actual fact i was doing myself more harm. It wasn't until April 2013 that i managed to come to terms that there was something wrong with me and started to get the help i needed. I went to the doctors and sat down with an amazing lady "Dr.J" who completely understood everything i was going through, she didn't look at me like i was a lunatic, she held my hand and explained to me that she thinks she knows what was wrong with me. The other doctors i saw just wanted to put me on anti-depressants and send me home, but "Dr J" didn't, she asked me what i wanted. I explained how the tablets made me feel, that i wasn't alive and that i couldn't focus on what ever i was doing, and i felt like i didn't shine any more. I had lost the majority of my confidence and felt paranoid on them. So she offered me another option one that i wasn't given before, she referred me to the Yewcroft centre, i had a way of coping without tablets. I am still under treatment at the yewcroft, but now i am going natural no tablets!!! Because i have the help i need i no longer feel alone and alienated. I now want to give back!!! please help me raise my target of £100 for Mind.

I would like to thank "Dr.J", my family, partner and friends for sticking by me through this as it is never going to go away fully, for your help i am eternally grateful.
