UNICEF works in many areas to improve the lives of the Children across the World: helping children to receive the support, health care and education they need to survive the threats of childhood poverty - such as preventable disease or malnutrition - and grow up to become healthy adults.
In November 2010 I'm taking part in a 'Trek for the Children of Morocco' that UNICEF are organizing to provide much needed support to mothers, children and babies. The funds raised will help UNICEF provide much needed midwidery kits which contain all the medical supplies and sterilisation equipment for maternity wards to support the safe delivery of babies; exercise books to support and improve children’s education, and even chickens to provide eggs to support the children’s nutrition on a weekly basis.
The Trek will take place from November 6th - 14th 2010, and will present a real physical challenge following a Trade Route through the that is still used by the nomadic Berber and Toureg tribesmen today.
Over 5 days we will cover approximately 100 kilometres by foot, over varied terrain from wide open plains with loose scree and rocks underfoot to traversing the high imposing sand dunes that are so often associated with the desert. The Trek will involve camping for 5 nights with extreme variation in temperature during the day through to almost freezing at night.
If you would like to sponsor me to complete this challenge in 2010, and to raise money for this good cause, please help to provide an online donation via JustGiving. It is simple, fast, and totally secure. Your details are completely safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, the money is sent directly to UNICEF and Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a taxpayer.
A big thankyou in advance to all of you who are able to help. It means a great deal to have your support!
