We at the have recently received the Frank Buttle Quality Mark, recognising that we go the extra mile to support students who have been in public care.
Students who attend Higher Education direct from care often receive no financial support from their home, and in many cases do not own the basics needed to support themselves throughout university. Whereas the majority of students have basic household items, bedding, or even a laptop before they attend, this is not always the norm.
The Frank Buttle Trust provides these students with much-needed grants in order to help them fulfil their educational possibilities. This is a vitally important campaign in ensuring all young people have the same opportunity to attend Higher Education.
To celebrate receiving the Frank Buttle Quality Mark we are looking to raise as much money for the charity as possible. We are asking all members of staff, and all students to raise as little as £10 or £20 by doing something simple, silly, or as serious as you like. If we can get ten people to take part, this will equate at £200… if we can get 100 people then that’s £2000. Every little really does help here.
If you would like to take part, please contact me on B.Tipple@kent.ac.uk informing me of what you plan on doing, and your details. Once you have raised the money, please simply add the money to this page as a sponsor. Remember to let me know how much you raised so that we can let local press and the charity themselves know the outcome including your names and what you did individually.
This is an extremely worth cause, and one that does not receive as much attention as it deserves. This is our opportunity to show the country how we appreciate equal opportunities in terms of application to Higher Education.
Get raising that money throughout the next month and a half, and the final amount will be handed over to the Frank Buttle Trust in early November.
Thank you
