My story
UPDATE: I just wished to thank you to everyone who donated to the mini Uphill Challenge on Mount Fuji to help Sightsavers. Greg McNevin and Byron Kidd and I had a tremendous day, in stunning sunny weather above cloud level, today we're recuperating from the ascent to 3,776 metres. On the climb we tried to keep in touch via Twitter with those that donated as we climbed, but phone reception, the joy of climbing, and some headaches from the altitude made us loose track a little of whom we had thanked and whom we hadn't. It meant a lot to us whilst on our climb to know that people were still taking an intertest and that some kids in the developing world will have their eyesight saved by cheap and easy operations. But thank you to everyone who donated, and this donating page will stay open for a while yet in case you wish to donate...thanks.
Can you imagine being blind, or having serious eyesight problems and living in the Developing World ? Can you imagine what an uphill challenge it could be to live with your disability and also provide for your family each day, or to continue your education ?
That's why Jeremy Sutton-Hibbert, Greg McNevin and Byron Kidd have decided to take on an uphill challenge of our own. This weekend (30th June) we're aiming to climb Mt Fuji, all 3,776 metres of it, and to raise money for Sightsavers International charity. Sightsavers are an international charity and work hard to eliminate avoidable blindness and promote equality of opportunity for disabled people in the developing world. We fully support their great work.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. JustGiving never sell your details or information or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now, even the price of a cup of coffee can make the difference, and we'll keep you updated of our progress on the day (phone reception permitting from the heroic ascent) via Twitter- Jeremy is on @JshPhotog, Greg is @gmcnevin, Byron is on @byronkidd.
Many thanks indeed,
Jeremy, Byron, and Greg.
