Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My father died when I was 18. It was a shock for all of us and it took a long while to come to terms with it. We had a lot of support from friends at the time, which is why I know how important support is.
Winston's Wish is a charity that helps children deal with the loss of a family member. This is why I support Winston's wish to allow them to help children come to terms when a parent or sibling dies.
The Walk was on 25th September.
Lara, my 9 year old daughter joined me for the walk. After 15 minutes warm up to music, we started walking in the dark with glow sticks. When we arrived at the top of the hill, the sun just came up. Every mile a sign indicated how many miles we had walked. After the third sign it dawned on me that this was in miles and not kilometers and that we were in for a 10 mile walk rather than a 10k walk as I had anticipated.
So even though we wondered through beautiful landscape, had nice conversations, it got pretty tough towards the end and Lara tried to convince me and the soldier that walked with us to give her a carry. We wanted her to get the sense of achievement and refused, so she walked every step of the 10 miles. We were very proud and relieved when we walked through the arch of baloons that indicated the end.
Thanks for all your support.
