Three Peaks Challenge · 28 June 2014

We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

We (10 VEGA employees) are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge on 28th June in aid of Cancer Research UK (and the British Heart Foundation - see our team page). For those that don't know, it is a gruelling challenge in which Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon (the three highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales) will be conquered in just 24hours...

It will be a huge challenge for us all and is set to test our endurance, strength and of course the ability to deal with lack of sleep (…and James' driving!).

The Team:

Amy Northrop, Alasdhair Beaton, Alex Farman, Andy Maguire, John Swinton, Richard Lowe, Jenna Garner, Francesco Belli, Simon Farman, James Michell

The Plan:

We will set off on Friday 27th June in a minibus full of supplies and head up to Fort William where we'll crash for the night.

Saturday 28th June...where the real challenge begins...

07:00 - 12:00 = Climb Ben Nevis

12:00 - 17:30 = Drive to Scafell Pike

17:30 - 22:30 = Climb Scafell Pike

22:30 - 02:30 = Drive to Snowdon

02:30 - 06:30 = Climb Snowdon

06:30 = Chill out with an early-morning beer and celebrate!

Completing this in just 24 hours is going to be really tough for us all and we need all the support (and bacon sandwiches!) we can get. Knowing we are doing it for a worthwhile charity will make the challenge all the more rewarding so please donate what you can - we'll keep you posted with summit (and celebratory) photos when we can!
