VSO Brecon Challenge 2009 · 3 October 2009 ·

VSO is an international development organisation that brings people together to share skills, build capabilities, and change lives to make the world a fairer place for all. Everyday, VSO volunteers are working to empower people living in some of the world’s most marginalised communities.

Story

Do you know anyone who trains at the same place as the SAS? Well here is your chance to join the glory team and all without even having to move from your seat.

Eight mad Insight Intrepidors and their even madder support driver will attempt the Brecon Challenge all in one day, and all you have to do to feel part of the team is to donate to help them hit their massive £6,000 sponsorship target in support of the work of VSO. On (probably) a cold, wet and windy day in October they are going to undertake;-

a 16 km trek in 5 hours along the Pen-y-Fan Horseshoe; a scenically spectacular trek to the highest peak in the South West with a commanding view over the Brecon Beacons.

then a 35km mountain bike ride in 4 hours on the Taff Trail, along forest tracks and tracing the banks of the Tal-y-Bont reservoir AND THEN a 3 hour canoe across the expanse of the Pentwyn reservoir.

Surely they deserve your support for just putting their names down for this intrepid adventure?

VSO or Voluntary Services Overseas is a charity which provides practical sustainable help to those in need in developing countries by sending out people with skills to help communities build long-term solutions rather than just short-term aid so they can become self-sufficient and improve their living standards away from a life of poverty and need.

For your comfort you should know that donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving as they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. So please dig deep and donate now.
