Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!  I really appreciate your assistance in raising money for VSO's volunteer work in East Africa.

Context
Accenture partners with VSO, an international development charity based out of the UK.  VSO’s objective is to combat stigma, support prevention, and increase the availability of treatment, care and support for those infected and affected by HIV & AIDS. 

VSO has organized the Accenture Kilimanjaro Challenge in June, where I will join a group of 30 Accenture resources from across the globe on a trip to a VSO project site in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania and then a climb up Africa's highest mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Project Visit
I will be spending 1-2 days visiting a VSO project site to witness first hand the beneficial effects of VSO's work in East Africa.  Past trips have visited the Nyumbani Children’s Home and the Leo Toto program in Nairobi, Kenya.  I am very excited to see the VSO program in action and the opportunity to follow-up on my collegiate studies in the Economics of Developing Countries.

The Mt. Kilimanjaro Climb
I will spend 7 days trekking through 5 ecosystems to reach Africa’s highest peak.  I will be hiking through farmland, rainforest, heath and moorland, high altitude desert and the glacier zones of the summit.

Your donation to VSO will directly help their volunteer work in Kenya & Tanzania.  VSO's projects in the region include:  improving access to, quality, and relevance of education, improving access to HIV and AIDS services, strengthening the ability of disadvantaged people to make a viable living, and increasing employment opportunities and income-generating capacity for unemployed youths, poor women, and people with disabilities.
