Story
Hi Val here - thanks for taking the time to visit my "justgiving" donations page.
As some of you may be aware, I have recently lost nearly 4 stone in weight - so I thought now that the weight is off, I need to keep it that way, and also get fit.
In my usual in for a penny in for a pound approach, I decided that I needed an incentive to get fit - so in a moment of complete madness I signed up to one of the biggest challenges of my life so far - I am going to cycle 480km across India in aid of Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
" What - you on a bike ", I can hear you all saying as you fall about with laughter. Well - yes actually - as the picture proves, I can ride a bike!
With the help of our local gym Edge Health & Fitness in Ripon and the two saints, St Paul and St Del, who have undertaken their own challenge of getting me in peak physical condition (stop laughing), condusive to being able to carry out this mammoth task, I am now fully commited to a getting fit.
So how long have I got to achieve thIs new status - well I am setting off on this challenge on 27th November this year and will be commencing my epic journey from the Taj Mahal and cycling a demanding route across the tremendous extremes India has to offer both in landscape and culture. (Yes that does mean that I will also be sleeping in a tent !!!)
I shall complete the 480kms, cycling over 6 consequtive days, eventually ending my challenge in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. I shall be cycling through 2 national parks, and I am hoping to see my favourite animal on the whole planet, The Tiger, in its natural environment. This will certainly make this challenge a most memorable occasion.
I have set myself a target to raise a minimum of £3000.00 for Yorkshire Air Ambulance. YAA is a charity that is soley dependant upon donations and needs to raise £7200.00 per day to keep the two helicopters maintained and operational. YAA plays a vital roll in a 999 situation, across Yorkshire's vast and buitiful landscape that not only includes isolated and rural locations, but alsomajor motorways and populated cities. As a rapid response, emergency service, Yorkshire's two air ambulances serve a population of approximately 5 million people across 4 million acres - that's alot of people and alot of ground to cover.
I would very much appreciate your help in my quest to raise the money, and even if you can only donate a £1.00 - every little helps.
For those that know me, you will appreciate the time, effort, commitment and determination I will place on completing this phenominal challenge, and I would like to thank you in anticipation of your support and generocity.
Love to you all
Val
