Story

Hi,

Thanks so much for visiting my JustGiving page.

In February 2010, we will be embarking on a 7 day cycle challenge through Sri Lanka.  Sri Lanka is mountainous – its high areas are up to 5,000ft, so this challenge is not a walk in the park!  We will also be struggling through the heat.  The terrain is almost entirely off-road – tough, scary, treacherous.  We will climb through extraordinary indigenous vegetation and plunge deep into valleys, as well as summit steep Surya Kanda (sun mountain), before finally ending up in Galle along the coast.

Sri Lanka is one of the “25 most ecologically important places on earth” and a world bio-diversity hot spot.  Cycle Sri Lanka 2010 aims to raise awareness and much needed funds for Rainforest Rescue International.  All the money raised will go to both RRI’s conservation initiatives, as well as supporting their schools and community programme, providing education on care, appreciation and love of the Sri Lankan rainforests and most importantly, how to get the most out of the natural environment economically, while at the same time, protecting it.

In this era of climate change, I believe passionately that the world’s indigenous forests must be protected.

Thank you so much for your kind support!
