<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN;" lang="EN">Recently I became involved with Rett UK as my little 3 year old niece Lucie has just been diagnosed with Rett Syndrome “stage 3” of this condition and for once in my life I felt pretty useless. This prompted me to find out more about this terrible disease and decided that I could do something to help not just my niece but other children as well. I am desperate and determined to get this organisation some money and I’ve committed to run 10k everyday for a month which I feel will help the cause for this charity. </span></p>
<p><strong><em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN;" lang="EN">What is Rett syndrome-</span></em></strong><em style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal;"><span style="font-size: 10pt; font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN;" lang="EN">Well it is a neurodevelopmental disorder of the <a title="Grey matter" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey_matter"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-GB">grey matter</span></a> of the brain that affects girls almost exclusively. The clinical features include small hands and feet and a deceleration of the rate of head growth (including <a title="Microcephaly" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcephaly"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-GB">microcephaly</span></a> in some). Repetitive hand movements, such as wringing and/or repeatedly putting hands into the mouth, are also noted. Girls with Rett syndrome are prone to gastrointestinal disorders and up to 80% have seizures. They typically have no verbal skills, and about 50% of females are not <a title="Ambulation" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambulation"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-GB">ambulatory</span></a>. <a title="Scoliosis" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scoliosis"><span style="color: windowtext; text-decoration: none; text-underline: none; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB;" lang="EN-GB">Scoliosis</span></a>, growth failure, and constipation are very common and can be problematic.</span></em></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN;" lang="EN">Therefore I am looking for people to sponsor me to run these daunting 10k run every day in February; I have already started training just now to prepare myself for this tough challenge. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt;"><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN;" lang="EN">I would like to raise a serious amount of cash for this charity as its now become very close to my heart; I have convinced my gym physiotherapist of the cause and she is going to do all my physio work for <span style="text-decoration: underline;">free</span> and also have the gym involved watching my challenge throughout the month of February.</span><span style="font-size: 11pt; font-family: Calibri; mso-ansi-language: EN;" lang="EN"><span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></span></p>
