A wonderful colleague and friend, Emmy Coates, was diagnosed with medullary thyroid cancer, just under a year ago at the age of 30. Unfortunately the cancer had spread into other organs and she was told she had a 20% chance of surviving for 5 years. Since then, however, she has done all she can to raise money and awareness to help the Royal Marsden hospital treat patients and fund research for all those people suffering from cancer.

Emmy and her husband Jake have been incredibly inspiring in all that they have taken on this year, despite all of Emmy’s symptoms, with such an overwhelmingly positive attitude, including a 2000km
tandem ride from London to Copenhagen. Please read their story at www.ejtandemonium.com

A group of teachers at our school want to show our support
for Emmy so we will be joining thousands of others, and hopefully Emmy and Jake too, on March 19^th to take part in the Marsden March, walking 14 miles from the Royal Marsden hospital in Chelsea to the Marsden hospital in Sutton.

Emmy and Jake have already reached their target of £100,000
so we are going to give the money we raise directly to the Royal Marsden Hospital to help them in all the fantastic work that they do.

Any donations, whatever the amount, would be gratefully received by all of the 'Smile, Love and Be Kind' team - Emmy's motto that she has encouraged us all to live by!  Any support or cheering us along the route on the day would also be much appreciated. Thank you all so much!
