Hi Dear Friend
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Some of you will know that I successfully completed the Great South Run in 2009 – my first ever run. Despite that, I didn’t get the running bug and do not find it easy! However, when Dorset Blind Association asked me if I would do a 10k run on 24 July this year, I couldn’t refuse.
First of all, I have recently become friendly with an 85 year old lady who is completely blind and lives on her own. Through this friendship, I have just begun to understand how difficult being blind is in everyday life, not to mention how many restrictions it places on the individual concerned.
Dorset Blind Association is a local, independent charity supporting people with sight loss throughout the County. It does not receive any fixed central or local government funding and relies entirely on a combination of voluntary donations, membership fees, grants and income from its transcription services. So you see, it does need our help.
Coincidentally, the 24 July 2009 was the first run I ever did and was only 2 minutes at a time! So it seems to be an auspicious date.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Dorset Blind Association will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support and very kind regards from
Vanessa and all those people who will be touched by Dorset Blind Association
