10 Marathons in 10 days has only ever been achieved by 32 men and women .. IN THE WORLD!!
WHY???
Because... In 2008 having never run further than the school cross country course outdoors, or a 10k on a treadmill I decided to enter the London Marathon and raise money in memory of my mum following her unexpected death the previous year. Since then I have continued to run and raise money in an attempt to bring some good out of my profound sense of loss and belief that the world is a lot duller without her in it.
My mum did live life to the full although at 62 was still comparively young to die, she raised two children, she saw the birth of her Granddaughter who she loved to bits, she was happily married, had a job she loved and also volunteered at the local hospice. She was a fun loving, compassionate lady who amongst other flaws, also happened to have one of the most awful singing voice in the world!! ... She is missed, thought of and loved every single day...
My mum was unique, and I will be thinking of her, every single step as I try and take on this unique challenge in her name on behalf of Brathay Trust. In order that others can also have a positive and fulfilling life.
I have chosed Brathay as one (of the many) projects they fund is to help young adults who have either never had a parent or role model or have lost their parent albeit, at a much younger age than me.
Brathay Trust is a charity that works primarily with young people who are most disadvantaged or vulnerable and who may have suffered neglect or abuse. Brathay's vision is of a society where all children and young people have access to formal and informal education enabling them to reach their full potential. I have no doubt mum would have supported this fantastic cause.
Every single penny that you donate will go straight to work on projects, I have already paid the entry fee which covers the cost of running the event .
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated.
