Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

ACT the Actor's Children's Trust provides grants and support for actors' children up to the age of 21. ACT helps 350 children and young people, from babies to uni students. Many have additional needs. In a precarious low-paid profession, ACT's grants can make a big difference to families.

Story

No, I'm not that chicken you see in the picture. But I probably will cry when he passes me in the race.

I've decided to become one of those crazy people you see on TV every year, running the London Marathon - or in my case, attempting to run it. It's all for charity of course, and I'd be very grateful for your support.

The FT will match the money that I raise, so the more the better! I'm supporting a fantastic little charity called TACT. It helps actors and children of actors who have cancer, learning disabilities or other long-term illnesses. I decided to support TACT and run the marathon after meeting an inspiring woman named Claire Carroll. She has beaten cancer and is back running again. Claire is also a council member for TACT.

If you're coming out on race day I hope to see you at the finish line. I'll be the one swigging a bottle of champagne to celebrate surviving (hopefully) this gruelling task!

Thank you for your support,

Vanessa
