Story
To our friends…. Thanks a lot for taking the time to look at our Just Giving page!
Mike, Dave, Marcus, Chris and Eamon would like to request your support to help us raise at least £500 for the Charity Down Syndrome Extra 21.
On May 4 2013 the five of us will be taking part in a 6 hour endurance go-karting event organised by the charity to raise money. The cost per team to take part is £400 which has been paid for already by us personally so any sponsorship you are able to donate will all go directly to the charity. We will be very grateful for any contribution small or large and below is a little more information about the charity we’ve chosen to support:
Down Syndrome Extra 21 is a registered charity established to help to promote equal opportunities for people with Down syndrome and offer support to them and their families. It promotes public awareness of Down syndrome and encourages and helps local support groups. It provides information through conferences, workshops, newsletters and its website www.extra21.org.uk
Your donation willhelp fund any number of the following ongoing activities:
• Regular production and free issue of our Newsletter to all members, local hospitals, schools and health care units.
• Provide free information packs to Hospitals and Schools.
• Provide schools with information packs on key educational stimuli for teaching children with Down syndrome.
• Loan scheme providing the most selected schools with laptops for use by our members children to aid their educational needs.
• Organise social, sports and training courses for our members (and families).
• Supply for 1 day a week a speech therapist to help our younger members with speech therapy, (something which is seriously lacking in local hospitals at this moment in time).
