The MicroLoan Foundation is a truly inspired idea: it helps some of the poorest people in the world become self-sufficient via the provision of small loans and business training.  Within only four months, 99% of loans are repaid to the charity in full – so cash is recirculated.  This is therefore a very different approach to charity.  People who are living on less than 62p per day ($1) are helped to develop self-sustainable livelihoods, to feed, clothe and educate their families, and work their own way out of the poverty trap.
