I finished my ride 2 and half weeks after starting. We had one day off in Stirling. Gosh I was ready for that. In the end I rode 1050 miles. We did a longer but very pretty route, over the Pennines. There were many ups and downs,, metaphorical and real, but overall it was a brilliant ride. The group I rode with were great and we had a lot of laughs and kept each other going. It was great riding into John O'Groats.
Many thanks to you all for donating. V x
I'm celebrating my 50th birthday by cycling from Land's End to John O'Groats. I've always admired people who have done it. Then one day I just thought 'Well I could be one of those!' Then I signed up with the CTC to join their holiday
My ride starts on 3rd July and finishes on 20th July when we ride into John O'Groats. It should be about 900 miles, unless I get lost then it'll be longer
It's going to be a challenge but it'll be a brill experience.
As well as being for the fun of it, I thought I'd raise some money for a good cause- Framework.
Framework does great work in Nottinghamshire supporting people who for many reasons have found themselves homeless and on the edge of society. Framework help people get a roof over their head and support them 'to stand on their own feet'.
A number of people they help are homeless due to mental health problems. I had a depression last year. It had gradually crept up on me over a peroid of time, but a series of events really brought me low. I had to stop work for a time and felt i would never be able to work again.
Fortunately I had the right mix of luck, help and support from family, friends and professionals that I got back on my feet before I suffered financial hardship. However I saw first hand how quickly life can change and things can fall apart.
I'd be really grateful if you'd donate a bit of cash to help them keep up their good work and encourage me to keep turning my pedals.
All money raised will go to Framework as I've paid for the holiday myself.
