On April 18th 2010 Vicki and Cassie will be taking up the challenge of running the Brighton Marathon.
Vicki spent 6 months in Africa / Asia in 2006 and was overwhelmed with the poverty and have been constantly looking for opportunities to help since her return.
Vicki visited Malawi during her trip and found the adults and children there inspiring. The whole community was extremely friendly and welcoming, spending hours with visitors to teach them about their culture and traditions. Vicki's very proud to have an opportunity to achieve a lifetime goal and at the same time be able to offer something back to the people she met whilst travelling.
By running the Marathon, we will be helping to raise vital funds for Find Your Feet, a British charity dedicated to creating lasting solutions to poverty in rural Malawi and India.
Find Your Feet (FYF) works with vulnerable families to improve their harvests, set up small businesses and access services like clean water, education and healthcare. If you would like more information on Find Your Feet’s work please visit www.fyf.org.uk or call 020 7326 4601.
The coming months will be dedicated to getting fit for the Marathon and fundraising for FYF. We have to raise a minimum of £1000 to take part in this event, though we hope to raise much more. We would greatly appreciate your help in reaching – and hopefully exceeding - this target! Your donation will go towards bringing hope and self-sufficiency to some of the world’s poorest communities.
