Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 3rd December 2008 at 4.15am in Liverpool Women's Hospital my friend Stacey gave birth to her beautiful baby boy Luke Michael. Unfortunately Luke was born with a heart defect and passed away when he was just 5 days old on Monday 8th December 2008. I will never fully understand what my friend, her partner and family have been through and cannot comprehend how they have begun to rebuild their lives after their heartbreaking loss. One thing I do know is that my lovely friend could never have got as far as she has without the help and support of Sands.
Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity was founded in 1978 and is a UK charity that supports families when their baby dies and works hard to prevent future losses.
After the death of a baby, some parents say their lives and they, themselves, are changed forever. Sands have been able to help Stacey as it knows that bereavement does not have a beginning and end. It is rather a journey with an ever-changing landscape. It is a tremendous charity that has allowed Stacey to speak with other mums in her position and despite never ever wanting her to be part of this 'club' I am eternally grateful that she found them.
Sands were able to help and support my friend when no one else could, so this is my way to thank them for helping her. Sands is determined to meet the growing need for our support services, while working to prevent more babies from dying. So I guess all there is left to say is if you can please dig deep and donate now.
Thanks,
Vicki x
