<p>As most of my friends and family know, three years ago I was seriously ill and after lots of tests was diagnosed with Graves Disease, an immune response disease which attacks your thryoid gland and in my case, also my eyes. The disease is really debilitating and affects your everyday life in so many ways. When I was diagnosed it was totally overwhelming and scary, I didnt even know where my thyroid was, never mind what it did! If it hadnt been for the information and support I received from the British Thyroid Foundation then things would have been a whole lot worse.</p>
<p>After a tough three years, in October, I finally had surgery to remove my thyroid gland completely and I can now finally say that I feel I am on the road to recovery. I am still awaiting surgery to help with my vision but am slowly but surely getting back to normal (many of you will say I have never been normal hehe!!).</p>
<p>On May 20th I will be running the Great Manchester 10k Run (along with my lovely husband Jim!) to raise awareness and funds for the British Thyroid Foundation. They are a fantastic charity who provide support and information for people with thyroid disorders and their families while also helping to fund research into the many different thryoid disorders. I would be so grateful for any sponsorship you could give at all, as they have been an amazing support to me at a really horrible time in my life. Please help me to help others like me.</p>
