Raising funds to aid research into Lafora Body Disease. Lafora disease is the severest form of human epilepsy. It afflicts previously healthy teenagers, initially with simple fits, then increasingly with prolonged fits that do not respond to medications.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, and helping me with much needed funding for this dreadful Lafora Disease.

Lafora Disease, also called Lafora Progressive Myoclonus Epilepsy, is a rare progressive and degenerative form of epilepsy that strikes children usually between the ages of nine and fourteen.

Symptoms become increasingly worse within a short period of time, and include grand mal and absence seizures, myoclonic jerks, cognitive decline, difficulty walking (ataxia), severe hallucinations and dementia, eventually leading to death within ten years of onset. It currently has no cure

I have only really got to know John and his Family this past year, ive always been aware of John's illness from them living in the same area and having friends as neighbours. Meeting them has been the best thing, what a wonderful family they are, so welcoming and would do anything for anyone, it makes you feel like you have known them all your life, its not often you meet people like this. Alice is such a good mother, infact i have adopted her has my second mum :-) Hope for John is a Charity that has been set up for Alice's Son John, who is now 21. Oh how i love John, infact i adore him, he's addictive, he puts a smile on my face everytime. Anybody that has the pleasure of meeting John will only get the same feeling. Please, donate, i can not stress how important this is...Awareness needs to be made and a CURE has to be found. I just hope we have it for John and the rest of the children that are suffering. Please dig deep, time is running out.
