Story

In July 2013, I hope to swim the English Channel in a relay with my 3 friends Jen, Lauren and Emily, after last year’s attempt was postponed because of poor weather conditions.

Last year, I was overwhelmed by the generosity of my friends, family and colleagues last year, but some people have asked me about donating this year, so I’ve re-opened this fundraising page.

We’ve been training hard, in sea temperatures as cold as 8 degrees, and are acclimatising to swimming without wetsuits. The waves and currents are a challenge for everyone, and I'm also still quite scared of seaweed, jellyfish and swimming in the dark, all of which we’re likely to come across as we swim the 21 miles to France!

I'm raising money for the World Food Programme (WFP) which is run through the United Nations to raise money for people across the world who are in desperate need of food. 870 million people around the world do not have enough to eat, and undernutrition contributes to 2.6 million deaths of children under five each year in developing countries. Anything you can donate, however small, would be hugely appreciated.
