The Christie - Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride · 8 July 2012 ·

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

I've decided to take part in the Manchester to Blackpool bike ride this year, cycling 60 miles to raise money for the Young Oncology Unit at the Christie Hospital in Manchester.

The Young Oncology Unit is a specialist ward at the Christie Hospital set up by Teenage Cancer Trust. It caters for patients between the ages of 16-24 who are undergoing treatment for cancer.

My brother Josh has spent long periods of time on this unit during his treatment for leukaemia and following his bone marrow transplant nearly 3 years ago. Unfortunately, he has had many problems post transplant and continues to benefit greatly from this unit. As well as supporting my brother over the last difficult 3 and a half years, the unit has always supported the whole family in many different ways.

Any donations really are greatly appreciated!
