Story
The weather was fantastic - sunny, but breezy, so we didn't overheat too much, and we managed to avoid the rain that seems to have affected everyone else over the weekend. Arriving at the end in a soggy mess wouldn't have been fun!
Jules very kindly collected me and Felicity (who kept me company for the whole 26 miles!) when we were dropped off in Winchester by the coach - although he'd already completed a triathlon earlier in the day, he was obviously in a better state than us, as we could see him laughing at us as we hobbled up the hill after 45 minutes sitting on an air-conditioned bus! He and Lisa very kindly gave us tea and let us have showers before heading home.
This morning I ache in places that I didn't even imagine existed (well, I must have known about them after last year's Ribbon Walk and the Moonwalk the year before, but obviously the memory fades.. so maybe I'll do something equally silly next year!) and was woken up by the aches and pains in time to enjoy the dawn chorus!
Thank you all very much for your support of both me and of Naomi House. It's a very worthwhile cause, and your donation will be much appreciated by friends, supporters and the children and families who sadly need to use the facility.
Thank you.
Victoria
Naomi House provides support to children, with life-limiting conditions, and their families from across the Wessex Region.
It costs £5million a year to provide services, to families, which include respite, end of life care, emergency support and bereavement support. 90% of our income is donated by local people and businesses.
I am supporting them by walking 26 miles from Winchester Cathedral to Salisbury Cathedral, along the Clarendon Way on Sunday June 6th. Details of the walk can be found here.
