My story

Barry Carter is taking part in The Great East End 10 mile walk on Sunday 20th. of May 2012, in aid of St. Joseph's Hospice. You were very generous with your sponsorship last year. Thank you. Please sponsor me again this year.
You can always donate via this page. All donations and sponsorship received will go directly to St. Josephs Hospice where my wife Vicky was cared for during the last few days of her life. This page is in her memory.

She was diagnosed with a crippling form of cancer in November 2008 after becoming unwell some weeks previous to this. She battled on for over a year, suffering the pain and the side effects of the chemo therapy. I looked after her as well as I could during this time but towards the end it became impossible to care for her at home any more.

Vicky was transferred to St. Josephs, where she received the most excellent care and attention. I and our three daughters stayed with her throughout her ordeal. For the four days we were there we could not have asked for better treatment.

Many people spend much more time there than my wife did and it takes a special kind of dedicated person to make them as comfortable as possible and control the pain they suffer, very special people indeed. Please make a donation now to ensure they are able to carry on doing the work they do.

In memory of Victoria Patricia Carter. 24/5/1948 - 16/2/2010 beloved wife and best friend for 41 years R.I.P.
