WE MADE IT!!! What a fabulous team and thanks to all of you for your support through sponsorship and encouragement! :-)
Why am I doing this? Because I am very thankful to the British Heart Foundation for the research and education they provide worldwide - increasing the understanding and skills of the medical profession when working with those of us with heart conditions.
And on a personal note: in the last 4 years - due to having Marfan Syndrome (genetic connective tissue disorder) - I have had both my mitral and aortic valves replaced with mechanical versions. Even in that time, the treatment and therapy have improved significantly.
Actually, the aortic valve was replaced in September 2011 ... so doing this ride in May 2012 is a HUGE challenge for me. I am looking forward to successfully undertaking it with the love, support and encouragement of my friends ... and by maintaining a Famous 5 approach - I just need to find a dog and remember to take lashings of ginger beer!
