Wobbleberry Challenge 2017 · 30 December 2016

The Charity was established by talented horse rider, Hannah Francis, following her diagnosis with the aggressive form of bone cancer, osteosarcoma. People all over the world followed Hannah's story which she told through her mascot, Willberry. Tragically Hannah passed away at just 18 years old.

Story

I've only ever competed locally at a low level show jumping dressage and in more recent years hunter trials one day events. I'll always 'have a go' once I've paid my money.

I've always wanted to compete at a BE event but have never had in my opinion 'the right horse', 'the money', 'the time'. Excuses really as its quite a scary prospect for me. I'm happy doing a prelim level dressage test, show jumping up to 2'6 and have never done an xc course over 2'.

I broke my hip, had it pinned and screwed then replaced and whilst recovering realised that if I wanted to achieve this ambition, I needed to 'get it together' as I wasn't getting any younger not that I'm old but time does drift past.

I was told about Hannah and the Challenge by my Show Jumping Instructor. I read her story and it gave me the inspiration to really tackle my fears and lack of confidence.

With the help of the area putting on lessons and BE providing a free day ticket to compete, it is possible for me to not only achieve my dream but to also raise money for such a good cause.
