Cognizant Prince's Trust 3 Peaks Challenge · 23 October 2015

The King’s Trust supports 11 to 30 year-olds who are unemployed or struggling at school to get their lives on track. Many of the young people we support are in or leaving care, have been in trouble with the law, or they are facing challenges such as homelessness or mental health issues.

Story

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

There are almost one million young people in the UK not in education, employment or training. The Princes Trust focuses its efforts on people who need our help the most.

Having been to The Haven Cafe here in Edinburgh, as an example, which was opened with help from Princes Trust, I have come to appreciate the invaluable service that the charity provides to not only the young people, but to the whole community. A place which was once bare is now always buzzing with activity- I have seen people from different walks of life- mums with babies, young professionals, retired couples and friends just catching up over coffee. A chat with another parent (of my daughter’s friend) who works for the Princes Trust has also made me appreciate how much the Trust does not only for training and supporting young people into work but also ensuring that the crucial years of their life are well spent.

I've always been into hiking and trekking, but work, parenthood and sometimes, yes, plain laziness meant that I've not been able to do as much as I would have liked over the last 4-5 years - this Challenge therefore inspired me to get involved again. It's hard work - both the physical aspect, and the fundraising aspect! But it's for a worthy cause, and I can literally challenge my body again!

Thanks in advance for your help and support - I really appreciate it! and so I'm sure does the Princes Trust.

Cheers,

Vinu
