Nepal is a land of mountains: both awe inspiring peaks and the barriers that stand in the way of children’s schooling and women’s aspirations. Classrooms in the Clouds supports education in the Solukhumbu by building safe classrooms, training female teachers, and tackling gender inequality.

My name is Virginia, and I am one of the Trustees of 'Classrooms in the Clouds' . We are having our first ever fundraising dinner in Canberra, Australia, to raise money ($56,6000) for a new Shree Bakhapalam Elementary School This will not only provide the community with a new, larger school with more classrooms, but will also take education to the end of Year 10 instead of Year 7 which will make a huge difference to the people of the Sotang region of Nepal. We have recently completed our first project at Lukla Primary school where we provided a computer lab, 12 PCs, 2 new classrooms and are funding the wages of 2 teachers through our Teacher Sponsorship Program.

Because 'Classrooms in the Clouds' is a UK registered charity not many of our UK supporters can come.... so I was wondering if anyone over there would like to help us celebrate? The dinner is on Sunday, 14th March, $35 per person for a delicious Indian banquet, plus $5 for corkage if you bring your own wine, so..... how about buying an imaginary ticket by donating $40 or 20 pounds to 'Classrooms in the Clouds' instead !!! Then on Sunday 14th March get Indian take-away and think of us !!!  Thank you.....
