Devon Development Education aims to raise awareness of global issues with schools and the community in this country. In Uganda, DDE works with schools to train children in sustainable agriculture and to improve school buildings. DDE has 3 projects to which you can donate funds. These are: The New Build Uganda, Food For Thought School Linking Programme and The Global Centre. To find out more about these projects and to donate specifically to one of them, please go to the following link www.globalcentredevon.org.uk/justgiving

Story

OK, it's not the Great Wall of China. But it is the first time I've abseiled so please support this streak of daring (actually I'm not streaking). All funds raised will go directly to the Food for Thought project that links Devon and Cornwall schools with Uganda, the organisation I went out there with last year and saw first hand what incredible work they are doing. With its focus on FOOD - ie growing, preparing, cooking, eating and food recycling - they work in (mainly rural) primary schools, where it's not unusual to have a class of 150 pupils, sitting on a pitted concrete floor. Talk about challenges! But along with FFT's teacher professional development programme, they are really helping to raise children's opportunities for a healthier, better educated and hopefully more prosperous future.

I'm unlikely to be doing this again (hopefully not because I fall out of the harness) - so please help me support this cause.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
