It's finally happening!
The 700m Zip Wire Challenge that's been put off four times for safety reasons took place this morning Saturday September 1 - five months late! It was awesome dangling 100ft above the deepest man-made diving lake in the UK at Tidenham Quarry. The good news is that our totals from individual sponsorship, team sponsorship and a marvellous response at The Forester Business Awards has so far raised a magnificent £2,322 and more is coming in now we have finally completed the challenge.
This will go to the brave volunteers who make up the Severn Area Rescue Association team who come from all walks of life. They are called out on average 100 times per year by the coastguard, police, fire brigade, ambulance for life threatening incidents - some truly horrific. SARA provides this service 24/7 365 days per year. It costs £30,000 to keep each station operational and SARA receives no government funding and relies totally on donations and fundraising activities.
