When I said to Viv I needed something to focus on to help me lose weight, she sent me the link to this 26 mile trek half expecting me to laugh. When I said "Yes, ok, let's do it" she got right behind me and has helped me to lose over a stone and a half since February when we signed up for the challenge. I hope to have lost a fair bit more by the time of the walk in August.
Viv is a veteran at this kind of event, having raised over £1,000 for Breast Cancer completing the London Moonwalk in 2011 with her work colleague Laraine Taylor. At the time I joined them for a mile or so but wasn't able to continue with them, so I knew that a 26 mile walk was not going to be an easy task.
We started our walking strategy slowly and have gradually built up to 10-12 miles last weekend, and have plans in place for a 15 mile then a 20-25 mile walk a few weeks prior to the main event.
I want to complete this challenge, not only for myself, but also to raise awareness and to raise funds for this worthy and excellent charity. Every pound you donate will make a difference so please please help us help Macmillan Cancer Support.
