Acorns supports more than 800 children and over 1,100 families every year. The charity needs to raise £14 million each year to provide its care services across hospices and community settings. Your support means Acorns can continue to be there for local families facing the unimaginable.

Story

<div class="text_exposed_root text_exposed">This year many people will be turning 18 and in their last year of education... Alistair would have been 18 on 30th April but when he was 6 an incurable brain tumour took his life. <br><br>As most 18 year olds will be having their first 'legal' pint and a big party to celebrate<span class="text_exposed_hide">...</span><span class="text_exposed_show"> we wanted to celebrate Alistairs Big Birthday with something a little bit different...<br><br>Everybody and anybody are welcome to join us celebrate and raise money for Birmingham Childrens Hospital (who cared for Alistair until he died) and Acorns Childrens Hospice (who still continue to care for children with life threathening illnesses)<br><br>So the plan is...<br>Meet in the bus bay at 1pm<br>Walk to Chawson First School as a group<br>Plant flowers in memory of Alistair and all other 18 year olds that should be celebrating their birthday this year.<br>TBC<br><br>We ask for a &pound;2 donation to be shared between the charities (thats less than a pint!)<br><br>Its an easy thing to do and won't take up to much of your time.
