During the first week of September I will be taking part in a ‘Charity Banger Rally’. I am trying to raise as much money as I can for 2 really worthwhile causes, and would reeeally appreciate your helpJ

 

The Charities:

 

The Wellspring Centre - This is a local centre that helps the homeless in Stockport. The Wellspring centre doesn’t only provide food and shelter for the homeless they also provide support, activities and education to try and help to get people off the streets. One of their main aims is to prevent people from being made homeless in the first place.

 

Starlight - You may have seen the recent documentary programme called ‘Starlight: For the Children’, and it really is heartbreaking to watch. Starlight is a fantastic charity that grants wishes for seriously and terminally ill children, this could be anything from a trip for their family to Disneyland, to meeting their Favourite Celebrity.

Giving a Terminally/Seriously ill child a chance to fulfil a once in lifetime opportunity that they have always wanted to do doesn’t only put a smile on their face, It also gives them and their family something to think about and focus on other than the illness. Some of these children have been through such an ordeal, whilst others will be lost to their families before their adult life has even begun.

The Banger Rally

So here’s what I am hoping you will sponsor us forJ……. The challenge set by ‘Motoscape’ is to get a car for under £250 and drive it over 2,000 miles. Starting from home in Stockport, we hope to drive through 7 countries in Europe, completing challenges along the way and end up in Prague just 7 days later....We can only be hopeful J Thanks to an amazing donation from a friend at work, we will be doing the rally in a little 18 year old Metro. (UPDATE - After Banger number 1 unfortunatly failing its MOT and having to be scrapped:-( with only a few weeks to go...banger number 2 (a slightly bigger Rover - 214) has been purchased for slightly over the budget, but is in now the process of being painted up :-) )We are a father and daughter team and our team name is ‘Wheres The Wallys’. We will be painting the car in the theme of the children’s book character ‘Where’s Wally’, oh and we will be dressed to match. So hopefully you will see lots of pictures of Wally (Probably lost) in different parts of Europe.
