Story

Dear Friends,

I am very happy to say that local (Indian) generosity has helped us reach the target towards which the contributors to THIS page have helped so generously. Pending the final accounting after the retreat, it looks as if we now have sufficient funds to settle all expenses.

There will be information and photos of the retreat on one or other of the Triratna websites for all those who are interested.

I am leaving below the original Appeal page posted here as it was before the warmth of your generosity became evident. A big thanks to all!

                                                       * * * * *

This appeal is for money for the Buddhism and Meditation Retreat in Wardha, central India, during the Diwali festival this year. A minimum donation (suggested below) would enable as many as 15 Dalits (Dalits, members of the lowest castes, are amongst the poorest of India's people) to attend a 5-day retreat which will probably be their first taste of the Dhamma, and will help them to transform their lives radically.

I have led two such retreats so far, both of them highly successful and joyous occasions. (See the photos on the left of this page). Please help the people of Wardha district to attend this retreat by donating generously.

Please consider giving at least £10.00 (or the equivalent in your local currency), or, if you can afford it, many times as much. Your money will be of inestimable value, helping to transform the lives of many many people.

Donating in this way is simple, fast and totally secure, in whatever part of the world you happen to be. Your contribution will go in full to our charity and Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.

Yours with gratitude and much metta, Ashvajit

P.S. With gratitude also to the retreatants young and old at Amaravati for the pictures on this page
