Story
Dig out your Christmas jumpers or rock those favourite jeans around the office on Friday 19th December to help raise much needed funds for cancer research at Warwick.
Text WCRU50 £2 to 70070 to donate £2 by text, or give online on this page. You can also arrange a departmental cash collection on the day by emailing benefactors@warwick.ac.uk.
With over one in three people being diagnosed with cancer in their lifetimes, Warwick's research has the chance to save lives in the future and help those being treated now as well. The new Cancer Research Unit at Warwick will build on the important advances we've already made with new drugs and therapies, such as:
- New drug ZL105, with the potential for a revolution in cancer treatment
- Treating cancer based on our internal body clocks
- Helping patients to keep their hair during chemotherapy.
So dress down on Friday 19th December to get involved and raise money for a worthy cause taking place right here on campus!
Remember to also share your fun and festive photographs via our Twitter page @SupportWarwick and hashtag #DressDownCancer.
Did you know? If 750 staff members joined in, we could raise £1,500 which would fully fund one of the following:
- 75 tests on samples
- 41 racks for gel electrophoresis, which helps measure DNA in cancer cells
- 12 simple chemotherapy pumps, so that patients can receive their chemo treatment at home
- 5 days of translational research
- 2.5 days of testing new medicines in clinical trials
