Story

*WAXING DONE!!!*

Yes, it was painful. Yes, I did cry a little. And yes, I did wear foundation to my friends' wedding to cover up the red rash on my face... But IT'S DONE!

I have now waxed my face for charity - and will be happy never to see another wax strip again. Here's a few videos of the challenge to keep you entertained!

The cheeks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xU1I7i8HMLQ

The moustache: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9r2LYZapYs

The really painful bit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3niw6DxqBs

Thanks to everyone who's already kindly donated - it means a lot to both me and Cancerkin.

If I've learnt one thing from all this, it's that women are much, much harder than men.

Peace out!

*WAXING UPDATE*

Thanks to your generous donations, we have now raised £500 for Cancerkin! In recognition of this great effort, I decided to bring forward some of the waxing to provide you all with some entertainment. You'll be pleased to hear that, after 5 boxes of waxing strips, I now have super-glossy (and slightly sore) legs! Check out my short video diary below...

The waxing begins - aftermath of Steve's stag-do:

http://youtu.be/YKNN3J9RjOU

Waxing in action:

http://youtu.be/NS1j7V6TcF0

Leg waxing - DONE:

http://youtu.be/At3U9nbAAbE

For the sake of my future face, I will be getting the face-waxing done professionally... however I will try and find a salon that will let us film the results - so there's something to look forward to! Keep the donations coming in!

The Challenge

After a few too many drinks down the pub the other day, the subject got on to leg waxing (as you do). Looking back, it was ill-advised to make a backhanded comment about whether leg waxing was actually painful. The answer, I have heard, is a conclusive "yes". In the interests of male bravado, I volunteered: "I would definitely wax some of my body for a good cause." Foolish words. Very foolish words. As I probably would've done to him, one of my dear friends suggested: "Why don't you wax your face?" When sober, the answer to this question is always "no". However this seemed a great idea at the time, and much hilarity ensued. Next morning, I woke up with a headache and the dawning realisation that I had agreed to wax my face for charity...

To make the best of a bad situation, I will at least be losing my dignity for a worthy cause. All proceeds will be going to Cancerkin, a breast cancer charity that provides valuable support to patients and their families in the most difficult of times:

http://www.cancerkin.org.uk/

Cancerkin provides hospital-based support for patients, ranging from counselling and support groups to alternative and well-being therapies. Having been through this process with a close family member, I know first-hand just how important this kind of emotional support can be to breast cancer sufferers and their families.

This is where you come in - your donations will decide how much waxing pain I will be put through! I've set the following fundraising thresholds:

£100 raised: wax top lip

£250 raised: wax full beard (which I will grow in advance)

£500 raised: wax both legs
