Story
My name is Wayne Drake, people that know me will remember my dad Lawrence Drake (Laurie) who died in March 2008 of Asbestos related cancer. I was very close to my dad as many of you will know, and loosing him has left a major whole in my life. I always promised myself that some positive could come out of something so sad which is why I have decided to help other families that too maybe facing the same devasting loss as I have, be it family member, friend or loved one.
I have deicded to participate in a variety of sporting events which will give me the opportunity to raise money to HASAG a local Hampshire Asbestos support and awareness group that have already done so much for families to date but deperately need more fundraising to help continue the amazing work they do in the form of home visits, support and awareness groups, providing information and support on Asbestos to families in Hampshire. (Please see below for the HASAG website to learn more).
The first event I will be taking part in will be the Reading Half marathon on 21st March. I have and will be working so hard for this event, not only to finish but to really see my dad proud. It would mean so much to myself if you can dig in your pocket and sponsor me which in turn will help others become more aware of Asbestos and help support them through their difficult times. Please dig deep and donate whatever you can. I will of course let you know how the half marathon went.
Once again thank you and a Happy New year
Wayne
