S Factor 2016 · 26 May 2016

We change children’s lives every day by pioneering ground-breaking medical treatment in a comfortable & engaging environment at Sheffield Children’s. All the money raised helps create a healthier future for children & young people, funding projects that are over & above the standard NHS provision.

Story

Nick "this one time at band camp" Salmons was the driving influence behind our involvement in S Factor 2016. What you don't know about Nick is that he likes to spend his Saturday afternoon reading stories to poorly children. The Gruffalo is his favourite book - he loves the pictures and typeface. They make him unbelievably happy. Having heard this story of compassion, the rest of the team felt it was time to do something locally and offer their support. The offer of support had nothing to do with being "tricked" (perhaps after having a few beers too many) into entering [the competition] by a certain corporate partner at a Sheffield law firm who we used to refer to as a "friend".

James "he's small but perfectly formed" Pemberton has a great affinity to the Sheffield Children's Hospital. As a keen footballer every time he sustains an injury (which is often) he is always referred to the Children's. Whilst he says he is 3, he looks and dresses like a 14 year old school boy. There are no VAT charges when he's shopping for clothes.

Alex "Kipper Tie [aka cup of tea]" Francis, originally from Birmingham, is all too aware of third world poverty. Having grown up in [and managing to have escaped] a terrible and squalid city, he felt it was time to give something back. Based on our aspirations for fund raising, the options were to buy a couple of Birmingham suburbs for redevelopment or make a relatively small donation to the Children's Hospital. Needless to say, the world famous and amazing establishment that is Sheffield's Children's Hospital won hands down.

And last but by no means least, we bring you the most reluctant leader of a boy band ever [think Barlow during his pie eating years pre TT Act II] ..... David "'Matty, stop asking me how my diet's going"' Mathieson. he is already a BIG star in our eyes and is the epitome of Dad Cool who can be found once a month busting out some serious moves with the students of Sheffield at the Viper Lounge. A true legend.

So get your ear plugs at the ready ...... on the night we are all sure the audience will want to walk 500 miles and then 500 more to get away from the terrible squawking (not unlike bagpipes) of Wayward Direction.

On a serious note, Barclays have supported the Children's Hospital Charity over the last 12 months as their chosen charity and in doing so have raised a significant amount of money. We want to add to this and we would be incredibly grateful if you could support us by donating and attending on the night. Undoubtedly, we will make fools of ourselves and are already ridiculously nervous about what lies ahead on 26th May! This is a one night only gig - trust us on that one! Don't miss out - it's a great local cause that everyone can empathise with. Thank you.
