Story
Thank you for coming to look at this Just Giving page, I've been trying to help Parkinson's UK since my dad died indirectly from Parkinson's in 2005. Parkinson's itself doesn't kill you, in his case it caused him to become bedridden, he got bed sores and ultimately died from blood poisoning :-(. Parkinson's UK helped him and my mum a lot during those times so I like to try and give a little back... with the help of generous people like you :-)
Six of us are cycling from Holyhead in the north of Wales to Cardiff in the south: Reg Balmer, Robin Bloor, Bob Brightman, Marty Ellis, Seth Reid and me. The route is just over 250 miles and we cross three mountain ranges: Snowdonia, the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains (for more info see the blog below). I've cycled quite a lot over the years but I can honestly say this is going to be the most difficult ride I've attempted, it is very, very, very, very, very, hilly apart from the first day but it's also very scenic... so I suppose we can admire the view while plugging ourselves into the iron lung...
Oh, yes, to make it a tad more difficult we're self supporting, in other words, we're carrying everything we need for the trip with us, in panniers on the bikes, it seemed like a good idea at the time but is looking less so as the trip gets closer...
I would be really grateful if you could find your way to sponsoring us and I assure you absolutely every donation is appreciated - and useful - no matter how great or small it is....
The blog is here if you want to have a look at it... I hope you enjoy....
