Every year we support thousands of children and families right across the country. We provide rehabilitation to help children make the best recovery possible after a serious accident or illness, both at our national specialist centre in Tadworth and in the community.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year, my personal trainer, Sally Kettle, convinced me that, despite my complete lack of confidence in my own running skills, I could, in fact, run! I was the one who would let a bus pass rather than run for it - there'd always be another bus! Nevertheless, I ran my first 10K in November and completed it in 1 hour and 5 minutes.

My goal this year was to participate in 2 races, the Bupa London 10,000 on 27 May and the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 7 October. Unfortunately, I had to drop out of the Bupa London 10,000 this summer because I came down with pneumonia, but I have restarted my training and will be running the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 7 October.

Earlier this year, Ian and I joined Sally and her husband at the Children's Trust Charity Ball where we met some of the people who had been helped by the Children's Trust. It was inspiring to meet these young people who, despite adversity, had moved forward with the help of The Children's Trust. Sally is one of their Honorary Vice Presidents and easily convinced us this was a cause worth supporting.

My aim was to raise £1,000 (or more!) for The Children's Trust. With the help of friends and family, I have already surpassed this goal. It would be fantastic if we could raise even more financial support for The Children’s Trust and I would be so grateful if you were prepared to make a donation through this JustGiving page.

For 25 years The Children’s Trust has been providing a lifeline for thousands of families coping with the daily struggle of bringing up a child with multiple disabilities. They provide expert nursing care, short breaks, therapy programmes, a special school and a chance for these children to live their lives to the full no matter how serious their disabilities. Some children become disabled suddenly as the result of an accident or illness and for these children The Children's Trust's rehabilitation programmes offer them a chance to rebuild their shattered lives.
